Gut health is inextricably connected to mental health! Poor gut health is a very common root cause of many psychiatric disorders. Nutritional deficiencies can even occur in people who eat healthy, well balanced diets.

We will review you current dietary practices and I will help you identify any potential issues. We will also assess for food sensitivities, and explore gut health issues like IBS, Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), dysbiosis, acid reflux, and indigestion.

I will create a personalized treatment plan that may include additional laboratory testing, dietary modifications, conventional or botanical medications, and/or supplements.

If you’re already taking psychiatric medications I will review and assess the effectiveness of them with you. We will review the risks/benefits of continuing the medication as is vs adjusting vs tapering off any medications if that is something you are interested in doing.

If you are not currently taking prescription psychiatric medications we will carefully review the options available for you and do a thorough risk benefit analysis of those options. I will ensure you are truly, fully informed before starting any conventional medication.

We will review the safety and efficacy of the botanical medicine options that may be available to improve your condition. If indicated I will assist you in finding well tested, reliable, brands and guide you in safe usage.

Life is intense and I want to hear your story! Getting to know you, at your pace, is vital to treating you as the complex human that you are. I am not a therapist but I have years of experience in a therapeutic role and I have attended therapy myself. I will listen, carefully and offer strategies to cope with stress as well as assist you to find a therapist you feel comfortable with.

I will review any existing lab results you may already have and order additional testing if needed. This may include testing for hormone imbalances, thyroid function, nutritional deficiencies, food allergies, and genetic testing.

I will help you understand the science behind your condition and your treatment without overwhelming you with medical jargon. I want to empower you to be your own best health advocate and that means ensuring you understand some fundamental concepts at the root of physical and mental health. This is necessary for medical decision making to be fair and ethical. I encourage you to do your own research, ask questions, and speak up.
